R Hemlatha, appointed new Director-NIN
Hyderabad: National Institute of Nutrition, the city-based premier nutrition research institute that is supervised by the Indian Council of Medical Research has found a new Director in R. Hemlatha.
A senior grade Deputy Director, Ms Hemlatha is an accomplished scientist who has over the years gained vast experience in the field of maternal and child, clinical, health and population-based studies.
According to a press release, she was a student of Gandhi Medical College, and obtained her M.D. in 1996 and is a recipient of several ICMR awards.
Having served as Secretary of Nutrition Society of India, Ms Hemalatha is a recipient of fellow of National Academy of Medical Sciences in 2016 and fellow of International Union of Nutritional Sciences in 2017.
NIN is poised to play a critical role in contributing towards the nation’s vision of a ‘kuposhan-mukt Bharat’ (malnutrition-free India) by 2025 the release further stated.
