
Bathinda: The Rs 925-crore, 750-bedded All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) project will be inaugurated by Prime Minister, Narendra Mody on November 25. The hospital project was approved by the union cabinet on July 27.
The Punjab government had provided 170 acres of land in late 2015 this project. The land then belonged to the Punjab Agricultural University’s regional research station on Bathinda-Dabwali road.
According to state sources,Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh, Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal and Union Food Processing Industry Minister Harsimrat Badal were making immense efforts to have the Prime Minister visit the state to lay the AIIMS foundation stone because the visit would indicate the state moving rapidly in the direction of development.
“The Prime Minister’s office has confirmed Modi’s visit on November 25. He will lay the foundation stone of AIIMS at Bathinda at 12 pm.Preparations are underway for the impending prime ministerial visit. We have started preparations for his visit.” said Bathinda Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori .
“Though I have got verbal information about PM’s visit to Bathinda on November 25, written orders are awaited.” the deputy commissioner told the TOI.
