Punjab: All-India merit list of NEET-2017 released by BFUHS

Faridkot: The anxiously awaited all-India merit list of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET)-2017 was released by Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS) on Thursday.

The NEET result announced by the CBSE on June 23 is meant for aspirants seeking admission in Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) courses. The result is likely to give the appeared aspirants an idea about their admission possibilities in colleges they desire.

BFUHS Vice-chancellor Dr Raj Bahadur appeared in person at the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to get the merit list released.

“BFUHS is the first university to upload the merit list. We have already asked the candidates from Punjab to apply online. The university will draw its state merit list on the basis of which their counselling for MBBS and BDS courses will be held,” the V-C said.

He added that uploading of the merit list would ensure transparency.

The V-C said the candidates applying in the Punjab category other than general/SC/BC could be representing other states, as Sikh/Christian candidates can compete from any part of the country.

The NEET qualifying aspirants will be vying for 1,130 BDS seats in 14 dental colleges across the state and 1,125 MBBS seats in eight medical colleges of the state.

3,000 online applications have already been received by the university, after declaration of the NEET results.

Qualified NEET-2017 aspirants will have to apply for online admission through the university’s website www.bfuhs.ac.in by 11th July.

Students have to deposit Rs. 5,000 (Rs. 2,500 for scheduled caste candidates) in the university account in any branch of the Oriental Bank of Commerce (OBC) or State Bank of India (SBI) through a challan form that will be generated on successful filing of the online application form.

The provisional list of candidates will be on display on July 16 reports HT.
