PMET 2016 results published
Punjab: The wait for many medical aspirants in the state is over with results announced for PMET 2016 on June 22. The exam, conducted online for the first time saw close to 14,700 aspirants appearing for the test. PMET 2016 results were delayed. AIIMS Delhi experts has now calculated and compiled the results for the PMET 2016.
Lovish Gupta of Faridkot is the topper for PMET 2016, followed by Arvind Gulati from Ferozepur and Sanil Garg of Patiala bagging the 2nd and 3rd rank in that order.
Chandigarh's Arushi hold the top position among girls holding 7th rank on the merit list, followed by Pawanjot Kaur of Bathinda and Harleen kaur of Batala ranking 2nd and 3rd respectively. Arushi is also the top rank holder in the tri-city for AIIMS MBBS entrance exam holding the 10th position. She also secured 2nd rank in JIPMER.
The online exam was held in two shifts with almost 7300 aspirants appearing in the first round and nearly 7400 candidates in the second shift. BFUHS vice-chancellor Dr Raj Bahadur said to the media the two sets of questions papers were from the same examiner to keep the level of difficulty uniform.
Two toppers of PMET 2016 have are also among the top 100 rank holders in AIIMS. Both Lovish and Sunil are seeking admission in AIIMS after submitting their application.
Daughter of Jaspal Ram, an SDO in the Irrigation Department, Punjab, and Chander Kiran, a Hindi teacher said to Tribune, Arushi always dreamt of becoming a doctor since childhood. "I'm overjoyed. I don't have words to explain how I'm feeling right now. Not only my dream of becoming a paediatrician will now be fulfilled but I have also got an opportunity to study at the finest medical institutes of India.
Arvind, the 2nd rank holder in PMET 2016 has also secured admission in JIPMER, after he got 12th rank in the institute's entrance. JIPMER recently conducted its three-day counseling session.
Eighteen-year-old Lovish hold 83rd rank in AIIMS exam and is hopeful of getting admission in the prestigious institute. Sunil Garg, the 3rd rank holder in PMET has secured 23rd rank and is hopeful of getting a seat in AIIMS Delhi. He is also happy over achieving a milestone rank in PMET.
While university did not officially declare its stand on ambiguities in the exam, sources said that as many as 11 questions have been declared wrong and all the candidates have been given equal marks of these wrong questions.
