SCB Medical College: Student Alleges Sexual harassment in the name of extra classes

Cuttack: An SCB Medical College and Hospital student has come up with a molestation allegation against a doctor of the premier government healthcare facility. A protest Dharna was staged by the students and the victim, on campus, demanding severe action against the doctor concerned.

The incident came to light when the Mangalbag Police station received a written complaint filed by this Pharmacy Department's student, alleging mental and physical harassment at the hands of a senior doctor.

Identified as Prafulla Kumar Mohapatra, Head Pharmacy, by the victim in the FIR, the accused is supposed to have threatened the victim of career ruination, in case, any revelations were made by her regarding this.

" He ( Prafulla Mohapatra) used to harass us by saying he would take extra classes in the evening. We stopped going to attend classes after his evil intention came to our knowledge," the protesting students, at the dharna revealed to Odisha Sun Times.

Meanwhile, the college authorities have maintained a studied silence on the issue.
