Odisha: Ministry of Health permission to Balasore, Bolangir Medical College with 100 MBBS seats each
Bhubaneswar: Following the instructions from the Medical Council of India (MCI), Ministry of Health has granted Letter of Permission (LOP) to the government-run Medical Colleges in Balasore and Bolangir to commence admissions from this year 2018-19.
The two new medical colleges will admit one hundred seats each in the MBBS course and will fulfill the advanced healthcare needs of the people in the region and also, boost professional manpower in the state.
"This permission of the Central Government is accorded initially for a period of one year and will be renewed on yearly basis subject to verification of achievement of annual targets as indicated in your scheme. This process of renewal of permission will continue till such time the infrastructure and expansion of hospital facilities are completed as per norms of Medical Council of India and the College is recognized The next batch of students against increased intake shall be admitted only after obtaining the permission of the Central Government." added the letter issued to these medical colleges
"The Government Medical Colleges (except those located in J&K State) shall contribute 15% of MBBS seats for which the renewal permission is granted for all India quota."
The MCI has also granted permission for 100 seats each in 2nd year at PRM MCH, Baripada & SLNMCH Koraput along with 250 seats each at SCB MCH Cuttack and MKCG MCH at Berhampur.
Two super-speciality seats in DM (Endocrinology) at MKCGMCH have been increased for the year 2018-19, official sources said.
