Odisha: Demand to hasten medical college establisment
Bhubaneshwar: The Government Medical College Action Committee that agitated for the establishment of the college in Baleswar is now asking for the beginning of the next academic session of the college from the year 2017.
The Action Committee members who met at the Gandhi Smruti Bhawan to celebrate the 11th Foundation Day of the Committee on Sunday have also raised the issue of quickening the construction work of the AIIMS Satellite Center.
Speakers attending raised their voice over the delay in the works of the two projects and demanded that they be completed sooner. The committee threatened to stage a protest demonstration from the block headquarters up to the State Assembly till their demand for speedy implementation of projects was met with.
They also raised the issue of establishing an Ayurvedic college and a medicinal plant nursery in the 110 acre plot of land, at Baunsamuha, in Nilgiri.
They alsocommunicated their demand for establishment of a nursing and pharmacy training college in the vacant patch after the Baleswar jail was shifted from its present location.
Several senior committee members including Ananta Pradhan, Gouranga Panigrahi, Kanchanbala Patra and, Mahendra Prasad Dhal addressed the gathering.
