Odisha: Balasore Medical College gets a new Principal, Medical Superintendent

Balasore: The Government Medical College(GMC) has a new Superintendent and Principal appointment from the state government.The college is supposed to commence session in 2018.The appointments put to rest speculations regarding the starting of the college.

According to sources, Prof Sashikanta Mohapatra has been appointed Superintendent of the college. Prof Mohapatra is presently with the Department of Medicine , at VSS Medical College.

While Professor Pratap Rath who is currently Faculty,Neurology, SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack has been appointed Principal of this new and upcoming Balasore Medical College.

This announcements was made at a meeting held by the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to review infrastructural works of the college with Higher Education Minister Ananta Das, MP RK Jena and local MLAs.

Chief Minister Patnaik’s assured those present that the college would begin functioning from the next session. This meeting took place on June 13.

District Collector Pamod Das, present at the meeting stated that he had received a communication about the appointment of Superintendent and Principal of the college, He also declared that said the construction works of the college were in the final stages reports Pragativadi Newspaper.
