New Delhi: The ninth floor of the Jamia Hamdard Institute of Medical Science and Research Hospital’s B-block, was sealed on Saturday reported officials of the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC).
“The owners had made the floor without getting the building plan sanctioned. The portion has been sealed under section 349 of the DMC Act, 1957,” a senior official said. The civic body passed the demolition orders for the said property under section 343 (I) of DMC Act, 1957.
The Registrar of the Jamia Hamdard, owner, builder and occupier was called upon by the assistant engineer of the South Corporation’s Central Zone and asked to vacate the premises within 24 hours of the receipt of the order so that the demolition could be proceeded with against those who were occupying it.
Several other unauthorized constructions have also been sealed by the body last year.”We carried out the sealing drive despite protests by locals,” said an East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) official to the DNA.
