NBE includes newly approved DM Paediatric Neurology in Current NEET SS session
New Delhi: Following its recognition by the apex body, Medical Council of India (MCI), a new Super Speciality Course in DM Paediatric Neurology is going to be offered at medical institutes across the country. Therefore, all NEET SS aspirants can henceforth apply for the course this year, .
The confirmation to this effect was given by a recent notification uploaded on the official website of National Board of Examinations (NBE) regarding the Inclusion of DM Paediatric Neurology in NEET SS 2019.
The prior requirement or feeder qualification for DM Paediatric Neurology will be an MD in Paediatrics or MD in General Medicine. The notice by NBE stated
- The prior entry qualifications for DM Pediatric Neurology is similar to the prior entry qualification for DM Neurology. Accordingly, both these super specialities have been clubbed together and there shall be a common question paper for both DM Neurology & DM Pediatric Neurology.
- Candidates who have opted for DM Neurology super speciality course at the time of submission of online application form for NEET-SS 2019 shall automatically be eligible for DM Pediatric Neurology course subject to fulfilment of eligibility criteria as indicated in the information bulletin.
- Candidates with MD/DNB Paediatrics or MD/DNB General Medicine who are desirous of DM Pediatric Neurology course but have submitted their application form for NEET-SS 2019 without opting for DM Neurology course are hereby informed that there will be an edit window for a period of 3-5 days after the close of registration window for NEET-SS 2019 i.e. 28th May 2019 during which candidate can edit/add/drop super speciality courses besides other information in their NEET-SS 2019 application forms. A separate notice in this regard will be issued after 28th May 2019 detailing about this edit window for NEET-SS 2019 as mentioned in the Information Bulletin.
- Candidates who have not submitted their application form for NEET-SS 2019 and are desirous of DM Pediatric Neurology course must opt for the clubbed DM Neurology/DM Paediatric Neurology super speciality course at the time of submission of online application form for NEET-SS 2019, subject to fulfilment of eligibility criteria as indicated in the information bulletin.

Scope of DM in Paediatric Neurology
Doctorate of Medicine (DM) is a super speciality course offered in various specialities.The newly included course, DM (Paediatric Neurology) as the name suggests will deal with all the neurological issues, in children. The prior requirement or feeder qualification for DM (Paediatric Neurology) will be an MD in Paediatrics or MD in General Medicine.
All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) New Delhi has been the first in the country to begin offering this course. From the July 2018 Session, there is one seat for DM Pediatric Neurology at AIIMS New Delhi in the Department of Pediatrics for this course
National Eligibility cum Entrance Examination for Super Speciality courses, NEET SS is the gateway to DM and MCh courses in the country.
The Online submission of application form for NEET SS 2019 has begun from 8th May 2019 from 3:00 PM onwards. Online applications can be accessed and completed till 11:55 PM on 28th May 2019.
