Verification of FMGE Pass Certificate; NBE issues notice for MCI, all state medical councils
New Delhi: Through a recent notice strictly for all State Medical Councils and the Medical Council of India (MCI), the National Board Of Examination (NBE) has informed about the verification process for the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination Screening Test (FMGE) pass certificates.
As per Screening Test Regulations 2002, an Indian citizen/Overseas citizen of India possessing a primary medical qualification awarded by any medical institution outside India who is desirous of getting provisional or permanent registration with Medical Council of India or any State Medical Council on or after 15.03.2002 shall have to qualify the screening test i.e. FMGE conducted by National Board of Examinations for that purpose as per the provisions of section 13 of the Act.
The notice states, "The Signed copy of the result of candidates who have qualified the Screening Test (FMGE) held in Dec 2019 has been provided to all the State Medical Councils and also to the Medical Council of India for the purpose of verification of FMGE Pass Certificate issued by NBE. Due to recent development of an increase in the incidence of COVID-19 (Novel Coronavirus) cases across the country, FMGE Pass certificates to qualified candidates of Dec 2019 session have been issued through NBE website. Candidates shall be presenting these certificates to the State Medical Councils for seeking provisional/permanent registration."

This is an electronically generated certificate bearing scanned signatures of issuing authority, QR code and Bar-code. The authenticity of this certificate can be verified by medical councils in 3 easy steps:
Step – 1: Visit the official website of NBE www.natboard.edu.in
Step – 2: Click on Quick Link "FMGE Pass Certificate Verification" available on home page of NBE website (https://exam.natboard.edu.in/fmge_pass_certificate/)
Step – 3: Enter details (Roll Number, Date of Birth and Bar-code Number) as asked on portal printed on the pass certificate submitted for registration by the candidate.
5. The Pass certificates downloaded from NBE website shall be purely provisional subject to "inperson" verification of finger biometrics of candidates and required documents. The "in-person" credential verification is yet to be scheduled and status of same shall also be updated on NBE website under the same weblink.
6. If ineligibility is detected at any stage, the FMGE pass certificate so issued by NBE shall be revoked and the medical councils shall also be updated accordingly for appropriate action.
