Nagpur: GMCH to house new AIIMS with 50 seats

Nagpur: The Rs. 1600 Cr, 960 bedded AIIMS Nagpur received its government approval on October 7, 2015. Sanctioned  a 150 acre sprawling campus at Mihan by the state government, AIIMS Nagpur is to enter the medical education foray with 50 seats for the academic year 2017.

Initially to be housed in the Government Medical College and Hospital for the  February 2017 entrance examination, the Ministry of Health will decide on how the GMCH with all its facilities, will  share the college and hospital with AIIMS.

According to sources, the central government’s team has recommended a temporary start of AIIMS from the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).

A six member committee that had inspected the GMCH on 2nd and 3rd September, has already submitted its report to the Health and Family Welfare Ministry, revealed sources in Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’s office. “We expect the ministry to give its approval soon,” said sources

Good beginning is half done, but I think it is a Mistake ON the part of Ministry of H & FW Government of India to start the new college From GMCH campus which said be in displine as admitted by Dean himself. This MEDICAL College being a central Government Institution there should be Fairness in selecting the Faculty Members ( And Not REDEPLOYMENT of old errants of GMCH/ with the political influence).
