MP: Severe nursing staff shortage at Netaji Subash Chandra Bose Medical College

MP: Catering to a population of more than 50 lakhs, the Netaji Subash Chandra Bose Medical College and Hospital (NSCBMCH) is facing a vacancy of about 200 nursing staff. In an effort to correct the situation, the Medical Education Department will soon initiate a recruitment drive.

Statistics reveal that 350 Nurses are working in the Hospital, which has a bed capacity of more than 900, as against the 500 posts. The reasons cited for this are the candidates preference to join other government Medical Colleges or resigning after being selected for the same.

With the State Cancer Institute which will soon be functional in the district (Jabalpur), the Medical Education Department has recognized the urgent requirement of a large number of nursing staff.

The recruitment of Nurses and Paramedical staff against the vacant posts is an essential requirement for the renewal of MBBS and Other Post Graduate Courses by the Medical Council of India (MCI)

The MCI considers renewal of courses only after the minimum requirements of academic staff, Nursing and other paramedical staff, hostel facility, play ground, medical equipments and other facility depending on the number of beds and Students doing MBBS and Post Graduate courses in different fraternity are all met and adhered to.
