MCI inspection at Dr YS Parmar Government Medical College, Nahan
During the assessment round, the MCI officials took note of the medical college's infrastructure, absent and present faculty members as well as whether the deficiencies pointed out in the earlier inspection have been improved or not.
Shimla: The apex, Medical Council of India (MCI) recently inspected the Dr YS Parmar Government Medical College, (Nahan Medical College) to ascertain whether the institute holds the necessary facilities to impart medical education.
The Medical College was upgraded from Nahan District Hospital to Dr YS Parmar Government Medical College in the year 2016 by then Union Health Minister JP Nadda. The medical institute had been allotted 100 MBBS seats since its inception. However, 20 more were added after the centre decided to implement EWS quota (Economically weaker Sections) from this year.
According to a recent report by The Tribune, the inspection was conducted by a three-member team of the Medical council in order to take stock of the medical college's facilities for setting up the fifth year MBBS classes.
During the assessment round, the MCI officials took note of the medical college's infrastructure, absent and present faculty members as well as whether the deficiencies pointed out in the earlier inspection have been improved or not.
For the inspection, the medical college authorities have been busy in trying to fulfill the required strength of senior residents and improve its facilities by setting up more.
The task of construction of its new building has been entrusted to the CPWD. With a new principal assuming office on September 5, the process to seek various clearances like NOCs from the civic authorities, forest clearance, etc., was being pursued speedily, certain officials informed Tribune
Medical Dialogues had recently reported that considering the upcoming MCI inspection, the Gujarat Medical Education and Research Society (GMERS) transferred 102 faculty members at medical colleges to fill up the vacancies at certain institutes.
