MCI disallows Subharti Medical College Application to increase seats in Obs and Gynae PG

The Medical Council of India(MCI) has denied the application of Subharti Medical College, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh under Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut for the seat increment in MS Obstetrics and Gynaecology course for the academic year 2017-18.

Compliance Verification Assessment Report (6th January 2017) along with the Council Assessor’s Report (2nd September 2016) and compliance dated 6th December 2016 submitted by the college authorities on the physical and other teaching facilities available at Subharti Medical College, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh under Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut for Increase of seats in MS (Obstetrics & Gynaecology) course u/s 10A of the IMC Act, 1956 for the academic year 2017-18.

The Post Medical Education Committee has given the some of the reasons for the disapproval the seat increment application. These include

• Shortage of Senior Resident


• Bed Occupancy is 38.88% on day of assessment


• only 1 Major Operation & 2 Minor Operations, One Delivery and one Caesarean Section on day of assessment and other deficiencies

In view of the above, the Postgraduate Medical Education Committee decided to return the application to the Central Government recommending disapproval of the scheme for Increase of seats in MS (Obstetrics & Gynaecology) course at Subharti Medical College, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh under Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut u/s 10A of the IMC Act, 1956 for the academic year 2017-18.
