MCC issues Notice regarding Date Extension for Seat Filling Via State Counselling; Details
New Delhi: Through a recent notification, Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has informed about the date extension for seat-filling via state counselling.
The notice comes in response to a lot of requests that had been received from various State Governments and Institutes and from various eligible candidates for extension of counselling period for PG medical Counselling 2019- 2020.
The notice states, "The Ministry of Health in consultation with BOG/MCI has decided to extend the last date for admission in PG courses up to 31st May 2019. The seats would be filled by designated Counselling authorities of State Governments/Universities and the seats may be allotted in order of merit."
Following the same, MCC advised candidates to keep in touch with the counselling authorities and universities (including IP University).
According to the time schedule notified by MCI, the last date for filling up of PG Medical seats by the states is May 18.
“The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has requested MCI to consider an extension of the last date for PG medical admission in States from May 18 to May 31, 2019, to fill up the remaining vacant seats in the academic session 2019-20,” the official statement from the Union Health Ministry said recently.
The ministry, recently, in consultation with the BoG had reduced the qualifying marks for NEET-PG for 2019-20 by six percentile. The decision was taken to fill up around 2,000 seats that remained vacant even after the second round of counselling, a senior official said.
