MBBS students of RKDF Medical College to file contempt plea in SC
Bhopal: The delay on the part of the Directorate of Medical Education (DME) to shift the Aggrieved students of RKDF Medical College to other colleges despite a Supreme Court directive has made the determination among these deprived 150 MBBS students to move the apex court against the MP government and the DME even firmer.
The Apex court’s directive to the DME to accommodate RKDF had come after the Medical Council of India (MCI), cancelled the medical college’s affiliation. New batches of medical students are all set to join colleges in next couple of months, however, the RKDF MBBS students issue continues to remain unresolved.
The students are going helter-skelter looking for an admission, however to no avail.
On April 5, the Supreme Court gave the state government 15 days time to coordinate student admissions with the help of the Council. However, with the authorities remaining inactive on the issue the students have decided to file a contempt plea.
MCI making its stance clear on the issue in the Supreme Court stated that it is ready to make available 135 seats for the students. Now, it is for the department of medical education to ensure that these MBBS students are admitted to other colleges. However, for the moment nothing seems to be moving for the students.
The student’s parent complains that despite SC’s order, the authorities are not moving towards resolving the case, when their children’s future is at stake “We have given notice to DME and now will file contempt petition the Supreme Court against DME”, added a parent to FPJ. A parent’s delegation that had called on Additional Chief Secretary, RS Julania, was told that he was not authorized to take a decision regarding filling of seats in other states.
