MBBS students at Venkateswara Medical College on agitation
Puducherry: The first year MBBS students of Venkateswara Medical College resorted to a demonstration in front of the college to protest against the failure of the Puducherry Central University to grant them permission to write first year examination.
It may be noted that the management quota in private medical colleges were filled up on the basis of the NEET qualification and plus two marks last year. Alleging that the management quota was not filled up as per MCI and central government guidelines, the Puducherry University did not allow the first year students to write their examination and different organizations are on agitation in the issue. Meanwhile, today is the last day to get the hall ticket for the examinations commencing on July 13 and the university had granted permission for the students selected through the centralized admission committee (Centac) of the government to write the examinaiton.
Demanding that the 304 students admitted in the management quota also be allowed to write the examination, over 100 of them held demonstration. Since the university has not responded, the students said that they would continue their agitation till they were allowed to write the examination.
