MBBS Admissions in Kerala- Mop Up Counselling Rescheduled for weekend, SC stay to Continue
Kerala: Through a recent notice Commissioner for Entrance Examinations informed about the re-schedule of Mop-Up Counseling to MBBS/BDS courses which will be conducted on 2018 September 8, 9.
The counseling will be held for the remaining MBBS seats and will not include the 550 MBBS seats in 4 medical colleges on which the Supreme court Stay is continuing . Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported that based on the plea of MCI challenging the High Court Decision giving relief to 4 medical colleges for conducting MBBS admissions for this year, the Apex regulator had imposed a stay order on their admissions.
These colleges include 4 self-financing medical colleges -Al Azhar Medical College, Thodupuzha; Wayanad DM Medical College; P K Das Medical College, Palakkad and SR Medical College, Varkala.

Spot admission to medical seats in the state will be held over the weekend. There will be no change in the seats for the 93 top rank holders. Admissions will be held to the 71 remaining MBBS seats and 400 BDS seats.

A Mop-up Counselling was conducted on 4th Et 5th of September 2018 to fill up the vacant seats in MBBS/BDS courses and the MBBS seats in the 4 Private Self Financing Medical Colleges which were granted permission for admission as per orders dated 30.08.2018 of the Hon'ble High Court of Kerala. But the Hon'ble Supreme Court vide its order dated 05.09.2018 on the writ appeal filed by Medical Council of India stayed the orders of the Hon'ble High Court of Kerala. Accordingly, the Mop-up counselling was also stayed. The writ appeal filed by Medical Council of India was considered by the Hon'ble Supreme Court on 07.09.2018 and ordered to continue the stay for the allotments to the four Private Self Financing Medical Colleges. In these circumstances, the Mop-up counselling is re-scheduled by excluding the four Private Self Financing Medical colleges from counselling and will be held on 8th and 9th of September 2018 at Old Auditorium inside Govt. Medical college campus, Thiruvananthapuram. In this Mop-up counselling, the vacant seats in MBBS/BDS courses shall be filled up on the basis of the options filed by the students through the website of Commissioner for Entrance Examinations for Mop-up counselling except for those options in respect of the four Self Financing Medical Colleges.
As per the options filed by the candidate for Mop-up counselling excluding those in respect of the four newly included Private Self Financing Medical Colleges, the allotments in MBBS course of a total of 93 candidates remain unchanged from that of the Mop-up counselling held on 4th and 5th of September 2018. The list of these 93 candidates is published herewith as Table-1. Such candidates need not attend the Mop-up counselling, as their admissions are confirmed with reference to their rank and options. The category-wise balance seats that remain vacant in MBBS/BDS courses is also attached herewith as Table-2.
The Mop-up counselling to be held on 8th and 9th of September 2018 shall be for filling up the vacant seats shown in Table-2. Candidates shall have to report for Mop-up counselling as per the time schedule is given below.
After the completion of admission of students in round-1 of the Mop-up counselling, the next round of allotment will be processed by taking the vacant seats due to non-reporting of the allotted candidates and the fresh vacancies created during allotment. This process will continue till all the seats get filled up in the Mop-up counselling. Candidates who get allotment at any stage of the Mop-up counselling and do not report for admission shall not be considered in the further stages of Mop-up counselling. But candidates who have not received allotment at the any stage of the Mop-up counselling though options exist, will be considered for the allotment in the next stage as per his/her existing options. Candidates who get admission during the Mop-up counselling shall not be considered for allotment further for the same course.
The allotments to the Self Financing Dental colleges shall be done after filling up the MBBS seats in Self Financing Medical colleges and BDS seats in Government Dental colleges.

Note:
Previous admission if any in BDS course shall be reinstated to those candidates whose allotment received during Mop-up counselling held on 4th and 5th of September 2018 has been cancelled.
Important: All other conditions of Mop-up counselling as notified on 01.09.2018 remain the same.
