Intending to go for MBBS this year: Know everything about Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC)
A popular choice amongst toppers for pursuing their MBBS course, Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi (MAMC) is one of the best medical colleges in the country. with its campus spread in over 122 Acers, MAMC is situated in the prime location of 2- Bhahdur Shah Zafar Marg, New Delhi. The institute houses four other institutes- Lok Nayak Hospital, GB Pant Hospital, Maulana Institute of Dental Science and Guru Nanak Eye Centre. It is affiliated by the University of Delhi and approved to Medical Council of India.
The college made a very humble beginning in 1958 with the erstwhile Irwin hospital (now the Lok Nayak Hospital) attached to it. The college is named after a great patriot and educationist, Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad and stands today as an epitome of medical excellence. The mission of the college is to provide excellent knowledge as well as rigorous training that will prepare the students to meet the professional and scientific challenges that will dominate the 21st century. The highest caliber faculty, high-class education, research, and patient care all serve to attract the most deserving students to this institution.
The institution offers courses in medical specialities at the undergraduate (MBBS), postgraduate, and at the postdoctoral levels. All these courses are recognized by the Medical Council of India and affiliated to the University of Delhi.
The admission to the medical college is done on the basis of National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET), the counselling for which is conducted by the Medical Councelling Committee (MCC)
MAMC offers MBBS course at the undergraduate level. It admits 250 students for the MBBS course annually.
Duration of the MBBS Course is 5½ years (including 1 year of internship)
Besides offering MBBS course, MAMC offers a series of Postgraduate medical courses. The institution offers postgraduate degrees and diplomas in a variety of medical specialities. A total number of 153 seats are available for MD/MS and 25 for postgraduate diploma courses.

- Hostel: There are a number of hostels attached to Maulana Azad Medical College and its hospitals. Every effort is made to provide accommodation to students of Maulana Azad Medical College. However, until the new Hostel block comes up, students may have to share rooms. Rooms are allotted as per the priority decided according to Hostel rules.
