Manipur: New RIMS Director to be appointed soon

Imphal: Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) will soon be getting a new Director, bringing to an end the institute running headless after the retirement of Prof Sekhajit state reliable sources.

According to the RIMS authorities and other confirmed sources, there are very high chances that the new appointment may happen before the State Legislative Assembly Poll begins.

According to the sources and as confirmed by RIMS authorities, there is a high probability that a regular Director may be appointed for RIMS before the State Legislative Assembly poll begins thereby putting an end to the issue of appointing in-charge Directors after Prof Sekhajit vacated the post.

Sources while alleging a BJP win at the poll said that there were plans to initiate various developmental works and projects and the pending ones completed at the earliest.

It is believed that the Ministry of Health and Public Welfare officials are exercising pressure on the RIMS authority to resolve Court cases by some doctors seeking a regular Director, as soon as possible. However, the Ministry clarified that even if the cases were not sorted out prior to the polls, DPC for selecting a regular appointee director would still be held.
