Andhra Pradesh: Yet another MBBS seat fraud has come to light as Andhra Pradesh police have recently arrested three residents of Bihar for cheating people by promising them MBBS seat in National Medical College, Kolkata.

Three residents of Bihar were caught by Andhra Pradesh police on account of duping a resident Mohan Rao of Rs 15 lakh by promising the MBBS admission for his ward

In his complaint, Rao said that the fraudsters sent messages to him promising that they will help him get an MBBS seat for his son in National Medical College, Kolkata. In August, he received a call from a person who introduced himself as deputy secretary in the medical education department.

He further stated that the accused told him he has some special quota of the labour department, through which he will help his son getting the admission. He was then asked to transfer money to his account.

Believing all the information to be true, he transferred 15 lakhs to their bank account. He transferred all the money in installments.

In September, when Rao and his son visited the National Medical College in Kolkata for confirming the seat they realized that they have been cheated. Rao then reported the matter to Andhra Pradesh police. On receiving the complaint police started the investigation and arrested the accused.

According to TOI, police found that the trio cheated two more people with the same tactic for about 50 lakhs.

Every year with the MBBS admissions process taking place, more and more gullible parents and aspirants being duped of lakhs and crores of rupees.
