Kolkata: Trainee nurse tries to commit suicide inside hostel room
Kolkata: A trainee nurse of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital allegedly tried to commit suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan of a hostel room, the police said.
Sonali Mahato (25), from Purulia district's Chitahar, was currently in an unconscious state, admitted at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital where she was undergoing nursing training, they said.
"The incident happened at around 9 AM when the first year trainee nurse attempted to commit suicide inside her room on the third floor of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.
"Finding the door of her room closed in that hour, one of her colleagues raised an alarm, following which the security personnel broke inside finding her hanging from the ceiling fan," a senior officer said.
She was taken to the RG Medical College and Hospital where she was undergoing treatment, the officer added.
