Hyderabad: The Telangana CID, probing the leak of TS EAMCET-II medical question papers, today arrested the prime accused in the case from Uttar Pradesh.

"Shiv Bahadur Singh alias S B Singh, a property dealer, and his assistant Anoop Kumar Singh, a driver, were arrested by the Crime Investigation Department from Jaunpur in connection with the paper leak case," a release from the DGP office said.

"He was brought under transit warrant to Hyderabad," said the release.

According to CID, Singh, who is involved in different paper leak cases since 2005, is the prime accused this case.

"He was allegedly involved in the paper leak of Railway Group-D exam in Lucknow, Railway Drivers exam at Allahabad, Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) examination.

PSC examination leak case of Punjab, J&K Teachers exam paper leak case, Wardha Medical College paper leak case of Maharashtra, Chandigarh Teachers examination leak case, Kolkata TET examination paper leak case and DMRC examination paper leak case," the CID said.

On July 25 last year, the CID had registered a case under the IPC and other provisions of the Andhra Pradesh Public Examinations (Prevention of Malpractices and Unfair means) Act 1997.

It has since then arrested 49 persons (brokers and sub-brokers) and seized Rs 2.87 crore in the scam related to EAMCET (medical) 2016 question paper leak, said the release.

The probe revealed that some students appearing for TS EAMCET-II-2016 (medical) examination from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh were taken to camps set up at least five cities about two to three days prior to the exam.

They were given practice tests with the leaked copies of two question papers comprising 320 questions with correct answers, the CID had said.

The Engineering, Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test (EAMCET-II) was conducted on July 9 by Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad and the results were declared on July 14.

In the wake of question paper leak, the Telangana government on August 2 announced cancellation of the EAMCET-II examination.
