Kerala:Board yet to begin probe into Kochi Medico's death

Kochi: Despite complaints by Shamna Tasneem’s parents to the police and college authorities regarding the Kochi Medical student's untimely death due to medical negligence, little has been done in terms of probe into the matter. The reason given being - the current week being full of holidays with festivals like Eid and Onam being celebrated.
The concerned officials said that investigations into the incident would take place next week. The medical board looking into the matter would comprise of the DMO, a government pleader, police surgeon of the Alappuzha Medical College and an expert member. The board after checking evidence, will file a report on the cause of the death, with focus on the negligence allegation.
The delay in getting the autopsy report of Shamna Tasneem from Alappuzha Medical College, by the police is another reason for the delay in probe investigations. Shamna, a second year MBBS student hailing from Mattannur in Kannur, died after an injection was administered to her at the Medical College on July 18.
Her parents allege that their daughter died due to lack of proper treatment by the hospital authorities and the absence of proper equipment and facilities at the hospital. Shamna was hospitalized for treatment of fever.
M Binoy, Thrikkakara Assistant Commissioner is investigating into the matter.
