Karnataka: Raichur Institute of Medical Sciences sees convocation of the 4th batch
Karnataka: Raichur Institute of Medical Sciences on Friday saw the convocation ceremony of its 4th batch of students. Around 87 graduates of the institute, took their oath to serve mankind and got inducted in the medical profession.
While the event saw graduates in black gowns receiving their medals, graduation certificates and mementoes, a few students were honoured with special awards for their outstanding performance.
Hindu reports, that apart from receiving an award for emerging as topper, Meenakshi Yadav also bagged two subject-wise topper awards for securing highest marks in obstetrics and gynaecology and paediatrics. Garvita Solanki and Asma Jasmin bagged topper awards in general medicine and general surgery subjects respectively.
Gautam R., who bagged the best student of the outgoing batch award, got an opportunity to address the audience.
The convocation was attended by paediatric cardiologist Vijayalakshmi Balekundri and senior surgical oncologist Kodaganur S. Gopinath, Minister of State for Medical Education Sharan Prakash Patil, RIMS dean-cum-director Kavita Patil, lecturers and heads of various departments and parents and students.
The event that started at about 5.30 p.m., about an hour late of schedule, continued to enthrall the men and women in black graduation gown and their parents for three hours with inspirational speeches and conferrals of degrees.
