Another Suicide: PG medical student administers local anaesthesia, slits throat

Mangaluru: In an unfortunate incident a 28 year old Post graduate student at Father Muller Medical College, Prasad HK, took his own life after administering himself to local anesthesia and slitting his throat at his college hostel room. A native of Davangere, the student was pursuing MD Pathology at the college and was a known case of depression .

The police investigating the case revealed that a nine page suicide note had been discovered from his room. The note admitted that the deceased suffered from depression. He had also pasted a signed cheque of Rs. 4 lakh in his brother’s name on the wall. A syringe and an anaesthesia bottle and syringe were also recovered from the room. This extreme step is supposed to have taken place between July 29 and July 31, reports TOI.

His death came to light on Monday according to the police, when incessant calls from his family went unanswered. The family then called up his friends to get in touch with him.The friends discovered him dead in his room when they reached it, in search of him. The information was immediately passed onto the hostelin charge and the police.

The police are investigating on how he lay hands on local anaesthesia without prescription. "We will conduct a detailed probe. Everything recovered from the room will be sent to forensic science laboratory," said Hanumantharaya, DCP (Traffic and Crime) told TOI.
