Karnataka: ESIC to start a Dental College at Kalaburagi

Kalaburagi: Dental Aspirants in the Hyderabad, Karnataka belt will soon be benefited with the establishment of a new dental college by the Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) in Kalaburagi. Admissions to the college will be on for the current academic year.

Addressing the media here , Chandrasekhar, Dean of the ESIC Medical College, said that soon after the inspection and granting of approval by the Dental Council of India(DCI),the college would admit its first batch of 50 students for the academic session, 2017-18.

Mr. Chandrashekhar revealed that the Medical Council of India(MCI), also had an offer to start a physiotherapy college at the ESIC complex and introduce a few para medical courses in the college as reported by The Hindu.

Presently, the ESIC hospital is running with a 470 bed strength, besides a 20 bed casualty ward.The hospital has five special units- Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Respiratory Intermediate Care Unit (RICU), Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU), Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU), and Obstetrics and gynaecology unit. Each unit has been allotted five beds, said Chandrashekhar.

A free Cleft Lip Camp- A free screening and surgery camp for people with cleft lips is being organized by the ESIC Medical College from January 23 to January 27. The camp is being hosted in collaboration with the Muthoot Foundation and Mission Smile.
