Kalpana Chawla Medical College gains MCI nod for MBBS batch of 2019-2020 with 100 seats
Karnal: The Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College and Hospital (KCGMCH) has received the recognition of the Medical Council of India (MCI) for the admission of its third batch for the academic year 2019-20.
The medical college had started its first batch for the MBBS Course in 2017. It gained recognition of MCI for the said course in 2018-19 batch and now it received the nod for 100 MBBS seats for the upcoming academic year.
The medical college invites admission through the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) examination.
The institute is located at Karnal and has more than 300 beds which will be increased to 700 beds in a phased manner. The hospital has state of the art equipment such as Computerized Radiography, CT Scan, Color Doppler, Automatic Cell Counters, Laparoscope, Operating Microscopes, laser, TURP, facilities, and fully functional biochemistry laboratory.

The medical college had applied for the MCI recognition in June 2018, for which the MCI had conducted inspection twice, one in November last year and then on April 10 to verify the essential norms required for the recognition.
On the basis of the inspection report, the institute gained the MCI permission for the course.

The MBBS course for its third batch will begin in August.
Overwhelmed with the decision taken by the MCI, the Director, Dr Surinder Kashyap, KCGMCH told the Tribune, "We have been informed that we can admit students for the third batch. This permission will attract aspiring doctors in future batches."
"We are making all-out efforts to provide the best health facilities to people of the region. We will apply in June for permission to admit students in the fourth batch," he further added.
