J&K: SKIMS conducts 5th International Conference of Neurological Surgeons Society of India

J&K: The 5th edition of the 5th International Conference of Neurological Surgeons Society of India (NSSI) organized by Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) is reportedly under progress. NSSI 2016 is a collaborative effort of NSSI and Department of Neurosurgery, SKIMS.

The first day saw extensive discussion and participation on various brain tumors such as ependymomas, pineal tumours, syringomyelia, and glioblastomas. In addition, educative sessions were also delivered on brain and spinal traumas and diseases of the brain.

Participants were further enthused by a discussion on evidence based interventions on Intra-cranial Hemmorages (ICH) management. Evidence Based Medicine (EBM), is also the theme of this year’s conference.

The conference is a big event on calendar of Neurological Surgeons Society of India (NSSI), and it is also the first time that the event of this magnitude (related to neurology) is being organised in the state.

Neurosurgeons from many countries and renowned surgeons from many states have come together on one platform to present papers and discuss on emerging techniques and issues in Neurosurgeries.

As reported by a local daily, the conference will continue for two more days and will conclude on Friday. A full session has been devoted to Nurses Symposium which would take threadbare vital issues in nursing care.

On the concluding day, a poster presentation is also scheduled. The organizers hoped that the conference will open up vistas for more MICE tourism in Kashmir. “We have everything needed for MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Events) tourism. And in addition to our tourism sector, our health sector can take strides with conferences of such magnitude,” said an organizer at SKICC.
