JIPMER: Patient jumps to death from hospital building

Puducherry: R Vinod 28, a differently-abled man, suffering from a neurological disorder who gulped a razor to commit suicide and was admitted to Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) for treatment, succeeded in his second attempt. This time he jumped from the 3rd floor of a JIPMER building on Monday. He hailed from Cuddalore district.

According to police sources, R Vinod was rushed to JIPMER accompanied by a relative, after he attempted suicide at home by swallowing a razor in Cuddalore on Monday. The outpatients' doctor at JIPMER referred him to surgery reports TOI.

The youth while being escorted to surgery by his relative freed himself of his relative’s grip by biting his hand and leaping off the 3^rd floor of the building. He succumbed to his injuries on the head and limbs, within a few minutes of being rescued by hospital staff and visitors.The D Nagar police have registered a case and begun investigations.
