JIPMER organises Integrated Pharmacogenomics Program, JIPP 2019
Puducherry: The Department of Pharmacology at Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) has organised Integrated Pharmacogenomics Program (JIPP 2019) which is scheduled to be held from 18 nov to 23nov 2019.
JIPP 2019 is divided into 3 modules, Module 1 consist of Research methodology in Pharmacogenomics. Module 2 consist of Basic techniques in molecular biology & Pharmacogenomics and Module 3 consist of Indo-Swiss Symposium on Pharmacogenomics.
Module 1 – Research methodology in Pharmacogenomics (18 – 19 November 2019)
Module 2 – Basic techniques in molecular biology & Pharmacogenomics (20 – 22 November 2019)
Module 3 – Indo-Swiss symposium on Pharmacogenomics (23 November 2019)
Program Outline:
Module 1: The workshop is jointly organized by Departments of Pharmacology and Biostatistics, JIPMER. This module consists of interactive lectures and hands-on exercises on various topics related to pharmacogenomic research methodologies. The topics that will be covered include choosing a good research question for pharmacogenomic studies, where to search & how to search for literature related to pharmacogenomics, choosing the appropriate study design, sample size calculation for different study designs, and statistical analyses of data for pharmacogenomic studies. Funding opportunities for doing pharmacogenomic research projects will be discussed.
Module 2: This module is a hands-on workshop which covers techniques of DNA extraction using two different methods (traditional and kit based method) and genotyping for a single nucleotide polymorphism using quantitative real time PCR. DNA extraction, quality control, quantification and genotyping procedures are the essential parts of pharmacogenomic association studies. In addition, principles of Hardy Weinberg equilibrium and basics of bioinformatics will be covered.
Module 3: This module is an Indo-Swiss symposium on pharmacogenomic strategies for implementation of personalized medicine. Applications of pharmacogenomics in the various medical disciplines and recent advances in pharmacogenomics will be discussed by national and international experts in the field. This module will also serve as a platform for researchers to present their research findings in pharmacogenetics/ pharmacogenomics studies as poster presentation (please refer page 4 for more details).
Registration fee and Accomodation details:
Participants can register for individual modules or combination of modules. Participants opting for module 2 have to mandatorily attend modules 1 and 3. Separate registration only for module 2 is NOT allowed.
