Puducherry: In a bid to lay way for creating an Online Research Dashboard and Online Research Grievance Redressal Unit to support and facilitate the researchers at various stages of their research, Jawaharlal Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) is critically analyzing the past and current research activities and comprehensively mapping the research strengths and weakness. The centre will have significant divisions like Clinical Research, Molecular Biology, Clinical Epidemiology, Jipmer Innovation Facilitation Unit, and Biostatics Wing in it. The centre will function as Nodal point for Research Grant Office, MoU office and International Collaboration office.

The centre will be equipped with research laboratory facilities for basic research to advanced research. For International Research collaboration, Jipmer will be adopting the Government of India's VAJRA (Visiting Advanced Joint Research) and GIAN (Global Initiative for Academic Network) schemes under Ministry of Science & Technology.

Through these schemes foreign faculties from Institutes of Higher Education will be invited and engaged in various research activities. For their stay Jipmer has identified a place to build International Hostel which will facilitate them and students, the release said. Research is a pathway to make innovation and to make poor men use of it for better health, and Jipmer is consciously proposing and designing various aspects of comprehensive research for this purpose.

With multi-sectorial research activities, Jipmer will become more visible beyond boundaries as a Medical Research Leader besides health care and medical education. Through Jipmer Research Leadership Mentoring Programme, it focus to create future medical research leaders for the institute and at National and international level.

In long term this investment anticipates delivering a very competent group of medical researchers to lead next generation medical research and aim to become Bimstec Nodal Centre for mentoring researchers in health science. Critical thinking workshop, grant writing workshop are few to mention in this series which have been received well by the students and faculties, the release added.
