Jharkhand: Rs 10 Cr funding for academic infrastructure at RIMS Ranchi
Jharkhand: RIMS Ranchi administration has recently sanctioned an amount of Rs 10 cr for further development of its academic infrastructure .
This step is being taken in view of the college’s plan for seeking 100 more MBBS seats in 2018.
The development work envisages a new academic block, while also providing students with new hostel facilities. A modern library, along with a canteen, and in addition, recreation facilities like a swimming pool, an indoor sporting facility is also on the list.
Rims director Dr B L Sherwal in his statement implied that the project is likely to be completed in the beginning of 2018, as it is an important step to offer additional 100 MBBS seats in the same academic year. More importantly on the radar is the institute’s objective to retain 60 provisional MBBS seats granted by MCI. There is still a need to modify the existing infrastructure like, revamping the lecture halls and demonstration rooms.
The final decision of MCI is still awaited on the 60 provisional MBBS seats granted by MCI before the academic session of 2015. So, students applying for the seats are facing an uncertainty over their future.
TOI in its report also implied that 137 doctors at the college are expected to be granted promotion this month, almost after a gap of eight years.
