How 4 paper leakers nearly leaked NEET
Chandigarh: A Bihar based gang, who has been leaking question papers for government jobs has been caught by the Punjab Vigilance Department. In an attempt to beat themselves at quality of leak attempts, the four even exercised a hand at leaking the National Eligibility Entrance Test Papers (NEET). In this case , however, they were beaten at their own game, is what they revealed to the Vigilance Bureau, during interrogation. The NEET paper leaked by them was not the actual paper set for the exam by the Central Board of Secondary Examination (CBSE). NEET's paper setting body, played a hoax on the country's top paper leakers. The question paper that was distributed to NEET candidates was different from the one leaked by the foursome.
Despite failing the NEET attempt, the four did succeed in the case of a host of others. This was revealed by the AIG, Vigilance Bureau member, Surjit Singh. "Besides the information being gathered from the statements of the accused, we have secured electronic evidence from them about the other examinations that were compromised," he said.
The Thapar University, Patiala, which is to conduct a recruitment exam for the Department of Irrigation, on Sunday, is in all probability going to be asked to cancel the test by the vigilance."If the VB writes to us that the exam has been compromised, we will cancel it," said Secretary, Irrigation, Kahan Singh Pannu.
Mr. Pannu has talked to the vigilance and taken a decision to ask the university board, to refrain from conducting the next set of recruitment exams. The final decision would be taken on Tuesday, when the government offices open after a long weekend.
The Punjab government now stands in a state of flux with the exam leak surfacing . It has created a number of new posts in various departments; but does not know, whom to approach for examination conduction. They have approached two esteemed educational institutions, IIT Roorkee and IIT Delhi, for recruitment conduction exam. However, have been faced refusal from both; mainly due to lack of time.
The refusal on the part of the country's best has had the government turn to Thappar University, Patiala and Guru Nanak University(GNDU) Amritsar for the job. Two thousand Patwaris are supposed to be recruited by GNDU University, for the Department of Revenue and Irrigation.
Recruitment of Patwaris by the government was undertaken in the earlier part of the year, after the state government conducted the preliminary exam for it.
However, information about the exam leak by the four from Bihar pushed the authorities to cancel the test.
