Bhubaneshwar: A nursing student of High-Tech Medical College Hospital here attempted suicide by jumping off the 3rd floor of her hostel building on Monday afternoon. She was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of the hospital in a critical condition.

According to a report in Telegraph, she is alleged to have been a victim of an attempted molestation by a canteen worker of the college according to her family. The members of the family also claim that she went through an alleged harassment trauma at the hands of the college authorities, whom she had approached with the complaint against the accused worker, and who in turn pointed a finger at her character.

The victim’s cousin alleged that although she had informed the matter to the authorities, her complaint was not taken seriously. “Instead of taking any action, the authorities branded her as characterless. She was under a great deal of stress because of this. The institute authorities are to blame for the drastic step she took,” the cousin told the media and also showed a Whats app chat conversation with the nursing student to prove the allegations.

The principal of the institute denying all allegations said that the woman was suffering from psychosis.

“Her behaviour was not normal and she used to threaten us that she could commit suicide. There were occasions on which she would put ‘sindoor’ on her forehead and presume herself to be married. We had intimated her condition to her local guardian and also sent her home. She came on Monday with her mother and a team of college faculty and we asked her to write an undertaking to abstain from the abnormal behaviour. Moments after she submitted the application, she went to the rooftop and jumped off it,” stated the Principal of the nursing college to the Telegraph.

Last December, an MBBS student of the medical college was allegedly raped by her hostel attendant, who had threatened her with a ruined reputation.

The incident had led to Director-General of Police, R.P. Sharma issuing an advisory for curbing of criminal incidents at educational institutes.

The police said a probe had begun after the victim’s mother filed a formal complaint with them. “We will record the statement of her classmates to verify the allegations levelled by her family members. We will also record her statement when she is able to talk,” said Anup Kumar Sahoo, Deputy Commissioner of Police.

Yes it is true, the college administratin has failed even those who were passed the examination to compensate the supreme court case lawyer fees as the students appealed against the college as the collge incrased the college fees from 4.2 lac to 5.5 lac after three years of their admission. Everybody knows the man who is the owner of the college and how he cheated crores of ruppees in land scam and already gone for jail and later after depositing 25 crore rupees he recently came out. The owner of the college had sold some pecentage of share to the person having important portfolio in order to pay the supreme court for land scam. He also the man who had gone against the MCI rule to admit 100 management students and later the supreame court has closed the college removing the students. Recently the lectures had passed the studnts to qualify for the university exmination, but the college administration failed 90% of them and claimed fine of 5000 rupees each in order to make an income of extra crores of rupees. Even he failed many meritous stuents. He threated both the students to fail them to apear the university examination if they open their mouth. He also threatened the lecturers to supend if they disclose the truth. During th last meeting when parents asked the lectuers about the truth simply they said we don\’t have power to do any thing we have done the best but the college administration had done their job like this. So forgive us, don\’t be worry. let\’s see, no one can stop us to fail your children next time without any reason. If man from the back ground of bada, pakoa without much eduction who intially cheated crores of ruppeess from land scam and with that money he will opened the college, then when he will caught by police then punished by the supreme court to refund the money to the customer. Then from whom he will he the money. Definitely from the student by sudden increse in fees and penalising the stdents by failing. Realy he is a cruel man victimising the inohcent students. This pivate college is only for business and not for quality education without caring students life. So it must be closed.
