High Court defer hearing on MBBS issue in Himachal Pradesh till July 23
Shimla: Himachal Pradesh High Court on Tuesday deferred the hearing on a writ petition till July 23 on allotment of MBBS seats to bona-fide Himachal Pradesh students who are working outside the state due to their jobs and other engagements.
A single bench of Justice Sandeep Sharma on the request of Advocate General deferred the matter regarding a case of admission in MBBS courses against the state quota for July 23, 2018.
The basic dispute involved in this petition is a question to the condition laid in the prospectus for admission in MBBS courses against state quota seats whereby it has been made mandatory that children seeking admission in the MBBS courses against the state quota seats must have passed two examination out of 8th, 9th, 10th and 10 plus two from the school situated with in the territory of Himachal Pradesh.
However, there has been the exemption clause as per which, those children has been exempted from this condition whose parents are in government service and they were posted out of state.
The basic issue before the court is that the exemption given to the children of government employees is discriminatory with the respect to those whose parents are rendering the private services or have occupation e beyond the territory of Himachal Pradesh.
