Gurugram to get New Medical College with 150 MBBS seats by 2022: PM Modi lays foundation
Chandigarh: In order to give a new dimension to healthcare delivery service in the Haryana State; the construction of Shree Sheetla Mata Devi Medical College, Gurugram has commenced with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently laying the foundation of the institute. The medical college will make admissions to 150 MBBS seats.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported about the announcement made by the Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on the establishment of the medical college.

The medical college aims to provide world-class facilities in the field of medical education, nursing, physiotherapy, trauma care along with multi-speciality/super-speciality facilities. The Shree Sheetla Mata Devi Shrine Board would have an annual intake capacity of 150 undergraduate seats for the MBBS course along with a 500-bed multi-speciality hospital.
Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA), in association with Municipal Corporation, Gurugram (MCG) and Shree Sheetla Mata Devi Shrine Board (SSMDSB), will establish the Medical College over 39 acres at Kherki Majra, Sector 102, Gurugram. The project will be initiated with an estimated cost of Rs 679.25 crore; reports UNI.
The project is expected to be completed by April 2022.
Government medical colleges in the Haryana state was MBBS seat surge from 600 to 850 in connection to accommodate the 10 per cent quota for the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS).
Individual proposals were sent by the authorities to the MCI to enhance MBBS seats, while the UHS had sent it's consolidate proposal for the upcoming academic year.
The proposals were sent by a few institutions, they are to increase the following number of seats-

- PGI Rohtak to increase MBBS seats from 200 to 250
- BPS Medical College, Khanpur Kalan (Sonepat) to be increased from 100 to 150
- Kalpana Chawla Medical College, Karnal, from 100 to 150
- Shaheed Hassan Khan Mewati Government Medical College at Nalhar in Nuh (Mewat) from 100 to 150
- Maharaja Agrasen Medical College at Agroha in Hisar from 100 to 150
