Gujarat: 8 PG Students admission Cancelled on Professor issue

Ahmedabad: In a unique situation Gujarat University students have been made to suffer a setback with their admission registration having been cancelled. The cancellations are a result of professors of their respective colleges not being registered with the university.

Gujarat University Vice-Chancellor, Himanshu Pandya said that GU was helpless, as the registration of the college professors with it had not been done by their respective colleges. "And the admission committee gives admission to students considering the number of professors their respective colleges had," added Pandya

The Gujarat University officials giving information on students whose registration had been cancelled said, one was a student of surgery at NHL College; five were of GCS with two students from radiology and one each from anesthesia, skin and surgery. Another two pediatrics students whose registration were annulled belonged to BJ Medical college.

Revealing reasons for canceled registration of professors, officials said rules called for colleges registering their professors with GU. In the first case of canceled registration, two newly appointed professor’s details had not been submitted to the university. In the other cases, the professors' registration had been earlier, canceled by GU on transfer by the government. "And when they returned to their mother institutes, the colleges failed to pass on the information to GU," the officials added.
