Government Medical College Theni gets nod to start MD General Medicine with 8 seats
Theni : Permission is coming to Government Medical College, Theni, Tamilnadu to start MD (General Medicine) course. The college recently got the MCI PG committee nod a total of 8 seats for the course.
The decision to give the permission came after the Postgraduate Committee of the MCI went through the Council Assessor's Report and was satisfied that the college had the necessary infrastructure to get the course started. The council decided to recommend the Central Government to issue the Letter of Permission for the course to the college. The seats are restricted to 8 for the academic year 2019-20.
The Postgraduate Medical Education Committee considered the Council Assessor's Report (16th July 2018) and decided to recommend to the Central Govt. to issue Letter of Permission for Starting of MD (General Medicine) course at Theni Government Medical College, Theni, Tamilnadu under The Tamilnadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai u/s 10A of the I.M.C. Act, 1956 prospectively i.e. from the academic session 2019-20 restricting the number of admissions to 8(Eight) students per year, till the first batch admitted appears in the final examination of the said course.
The PG committee further told the college to apply for recognition of the qualification at the time of first available examination as per the provision of Section 11(2) of the IMC Act, 1956.
With the MCI now dissolved, the decision with now go to the newly appointed Board of Governors for approval
