Ernakulam Medical college : Salary disparity between doctors and staff leads to a hunger strike
Kochi: The Ernakulam Medical College’s, Kalamassery BMS unit staged a hunger strike on Monday, raising salary disparity between doctors and other staff as the issue for having called off work. Approximately 20 workers sat on a strike for it. They were supported by unions of the CMCTA and INTUC, who expressed their solidarity for the cause.
"The BMS members will issue a notice to the government on Tuesday, warning of another strike unless the issues concerned are amicably resolved by January 31. We will hold a meeting and make sure the patients do not suffer on account of the strike and the protests will be staged in such a manner so as not to inconvenience the general public," Dr Vibin Jeevan, Secretary, Kerala Hospital Employees Sangh told TNIE.
