DM Paediatric Neurology given recognition by the MCI Board of Governors, Gazette notification issued
New Delhi: From the next academic year onwards, a new Super Speciality Course in Paediatric Neurology is going to be offered at medical institutes across the country. This comes as the apex medical body has now given recognition to this course by its inclusion in the Post Graduate Medical Education Regulations, 2000.
The confirmation to this effect was given by Medical Council of India Board of governors (MCI BOG) via the official notification in The Gazette of India; which clearly mentions that DM (Paediatric Neurology) has been added in the Post Graduate Medical Education Regulations, 2000.
The prior requirement or feeder qualification for DM (Paediatric Neurology) will be an MD in Paediatrics or MD in General Medicine, the MCI notification stated.

In the said the Gazette Notification dated, 28th January 2019; the Medical Council of India Board of Governors (MCI BoG) have stated,
"In exercise of powers conferred by Section 33 ofthe Indian Medical Council Act, 1956 (102 of 1956), the Medical Council of India with the previous sanctionof the Central Government hereby makes the following regulations to further amend the "Postgraduate Medical Education Regulations, 2000." namely:—
These regulations may be called the "Postgraduate Medical Education (Amendment) Regulations, 2018".
They shall come into force from the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.
In the "Postgraduate Medical Education Regulations, 2000", in Appendix-III under sub-heading "C" under the heading of D.M. (Doctor of Medicine), the following shall be added after DM (Onco Pathology):-

Scope of DM in Paediatric Neurology
Doctorate of Medicine (DM) is a super speciality course offered in various specialities.
The newly included course, DM (Paediatric Neurology) as the name suggests will deal with all the neurological issues, in children.The prior requirement or feeder qualification for DM (Paediatric Neurology) will be an MD in Paediatrics or MD in General Medicine.
All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) New Delhi has been the first in the court to begin offering this course. From the July 2018 Session, there is one seat for DM Pediatric Neurology at AIIMS New Delhi in the Department of Pediatrics for this course
