Demand for new medical college and trauma center at Vizianagaram

Vizianagaram: It was a hot day and a crowd gathered at the collector’s office for Prajavani- a people’s program for airing complaints to the government official. Most people at this one were there to appeal for pension provisions and availability of drinking water.

Apart from the crowd, MLC, North Andhra Coordinator, YSRCP, K Veer Bhadra Swamy, was also their to meet the Collector Vivek Yadav to urge him to start a medical college and a trauma Care Center at the district government's general Hospital, under the management of the Andhra Pradesh Government.

“ The public of this district is very poor and they are not in a position to meet their medical expenditure in private hospitals. So it’s necessary to set up a government medical college here,” he said. Mr.Bhadra Swamy, also revealed that he had lately visited the government hospital and come across quite a few shortcomings there. He said that the hospital required more sophisticated medical equipment to serve the ailing better. He also spoke of the need for more ambulances, as the old ones were being sent for repairs quite frequently.

Mr. Swamy also expressed the need for Neurology and Cardiology departments to be introduced at hospitals, as the patients suffering from heart and brain ailments were being sent to Vizag, Hyderabad, for treatment, which meant expenditure incurred by them.

“ Even the outsourcing staff is not being paid their salaries for the past four months and the TDP cadre is demanding bribes to sanction individual welfare schemes like pensions, houses and others. The government should eradicate corruption in the party,” he told the Hans India.
