Agra: The SN Medical College will be affiliated with Lucknow's King George's Medical University(KGMU) from the next academic session, implying that the MBBS and PG passouts of the medical college will now be given KGMU degrees.
The move will bring an end to the 79-year-old association of the college with Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar University. The transfer is in all likelihood going to improve the state's quality of medical education.
Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported that the affiliation proposal of the college, to the KGMU, was given to a Council last year. The approval of the university followed recently.

The SN Medical College will now have a student strength of a 150 for its UG course and over 100 seats for its PG Program. According to official sources, other medical colleges in Azamgarh, Jhansi, and Kanpur are also likely to gain affiliation with the KGMU besides SN Medical College.
Spokesperson, S N Medical College, Dr. Shailendra Chowdhary told the TOI,"We had been facing multiple problems for a long time. Neither the exams were being conducted on time nor the results were declared timely. Also, there were mistakes in results, late issuing of degrees and mark sheets. We are glad that KGMU has considered our proposal. From the next session onwards, our medical students will get a degree from KGMU. The syllabus and curriculum might also be revised, and the exams of all medical colleges associated with KGMU will take place at the same time. We will inform the students accordingly."
