Coimbatore: Students of a private paramedical college go on rampage
Tamil Nadu: After an unfortunate incident of a college student of a private paramedical college in an accident, the fellow students of the college took the matter in their own hands causing a rampage and damage to the college property.
The accident victim was a second year physiotherapy student in the college. He was residing the college hotel and hailed from Kerala.
Hindu reported that on Thursday afternoon, he was riding his bike to the hostel from Gandhipuram when he met with an accident while trying to overtake a car near Viswasapuram. The student suffered multiple injuries. While the accident was said to have taken place around 3.30 p.m. he was admitted in a hospital run by the college management near Gandhipuram around 4.30 p.m. Around 8.30 p.m. his condition worsened and he was referred to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital, where he was declared as brought dead.
The fellow students only got further agitated on hearing the news of his death and alleged that the private hospital has not given him proper treatment due to which he passed away. They gathered together at the hospital premise and, in agitation, started damaging the hospital property. They were around 100 students at the college campus.
The students also damaged the college principal's car before damaging the doors, windows, furniture and laboratories.
Later, the police had to provide more security to the institution, as the details of the matter came to highlight to them. Police had to pacify the students to bring the situation under control, and around 11.30 pm the students came to a rest.
