Cochlear implants introduced in GMCH Nagpur
NAGPUR: The Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Nagpur has come up with a new ENT department which shall be conducting Cochlear implants in the future. The Ist of these 3 surgeries were conducted on Sunday. Government Medical College Nagpur is the second state-run institution that has entered this arena of implants in the state; the other being Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital (IGMCH)
These surgeries are to be conducted under ADIP (Assistance to disables persons for purchase/fitting of appliances). The scheme will entail free of cost implant surgeries along with speech therapies. Privately, the same procedures are far more expensive costing between Rs7 and Rs14 lakh reports TOI
