37 seats have fallen vacant after the examination for the session 2016-17, of the 76 available to them. Dhanbad enjoys a total of 289 seats out of which 76 happen to be reserved for the ST.

49 ST candidates have passed the 2016-17 medical exam, leaving  26 more seats to be filled up.

The Chief Minister announced, the decision to lower the cut off percentage of ST candidates was being requested  to  look after the interest of tribal students; and on the other hand, the government would be able to implement medical facilities.
