Clash at Odisha Medical College: Patient's kin attack medicos alleging delay in treatment
Berhampur: Tension erupted at the Maharaja Krishna Chandra Gajapati Medical College & Hospital (MKCG Medical College & Hospital) after a patient's attendant attacked medicos at the institute alleging delay in treatment.
According to recent media reports, the incident took place on September 10th midnight. The attendant had admitted his mother in the hospital. He had an argument with some medicos over alleged delay in her treatment.

The argument soon took a violent turn. It has been reported that after the matter turned ugly, the family members of the patient thrashed the medicos.
Following the incident, two separate FIRs by both sides have been lodged at the Baidyanathpur police station, reports Pragativadi
The medicos further gheraoed the police station and demanded action against the patient's attendant, reports Pioneer.
For further inquiry, the kin was brought to the Baidyanathpur police station for further interrogation.
MKCG Medical College & Hospital, Brahmapur, is set up by the Government of Odisha and functions under the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Government of Odisha. The medical college was set up with the basic aim of providing medical and para-medical education, to produce excellent healthcare professionals for the community, as well as to render tertiary health care to the people of south-western Odisha. The medical college campus spans over an area of 162 Acres.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported about another incident where 2 Hindu Rao Hospital doctors were allegedly beaten up by a patient's attendant.
The patient was admitted in critical condition in the casualty ward and had died during treatment, following which her husband, son and other relatives started quarrelling with the doctors on duty. During heated exchanges, the patient's son allegedly slapped a doctor. Soon after more doctors poured in and a scuffle broke out in which two doctors sustained minor injuries.
