Chandigarh: Medical Teachers on Chain Hunger strike

Patiala: Medical and dental teachers working in government medical and dental colleges of the state backed by Punjab State Medical and Dental Teachers Association have launched a chain hunger strike. The effort is to press government to accept their long pending demands including time-bound promotions with financial benefits.
Dr. DS Bhullar, state general secretary of the association told The tribune that their demands were earlier approved by the state government many times, but implementation is never done. This has concluded into a strong opposition from the faculty as they have been waiting for the implementation since long.
Their demand for time-bound promotions with financial benefits was also agreed on by the Chief Minister, Prakash Singh Badal, but now the government has taken a step back from the said promises, added Dr Bhullar.
He stated that they will continue their protest till their demands are agreed on and implemented,
“We urge Minister for Medical Education and Research Anil Joshi to take up our demands on priority with the Chief Minister and give us justice,”said Bhullar.
