Uttarakhand: Guru Ram Rai Medical College seeks Court intervemntion on admission issues
NAINITAL: A petition filed by a private medical college related to percentage increase in the state's admission quota by the government is with the Uttarakhand High Court
Guru Ram Rai Medical College, Dehradun, has filed an appeal before a two-judge bench challenging the single bench Court directive, delivered on July 31, to admit a student who had cleared NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) examination and was seeking admission to the college.
The Institution’s Counsel, Jitendra Chaudhary told TOI, “By increasing admission quota from 25% to 50%, the state government has violated the agreement with the institution. We have challenged the decision and will continue the argument on Wednesday.”
The government had increased the admission quota in private medical colleges through NEET from 25% to 50% in July, this year.
Aspirants seeking admission to the college after having cleared the entrance test had also made a submission in front of the single bench, complaining of delays in their admission, due to the on going war between the medical college and the state government over fee structure.
Meanwhile, the Court at the Tuesday hearing had said that its order would also be applicable to other private medical colleges in the state, who had denied students admission on similar grounds.
